SUMMARY:Drop-in Puppet Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Drop-in during the Farmers’ Market and make your own lake-themed puppet! \nJoin 7 Lakes Alliance Artists in Residency in making puppets inspired by conservation and celebrating the wildlife that depends on healthy lakes to thrive. This art will be featured in Belgrade’s 4th of July Parade on Main Street. Make a fish puppet\, milfoil wand\, or curly-leaf pondweed crown! The options are as endless as your imagination! \nAll participants are invited to walk in the July 4th “Puppets of the Lake Pageant” during the 4th of July Parade in the village of Belgrade Lakes. Line-up begins at 3:30pm at Harvest Time Farm. \nColorful fish puppets created with paper maché \nThe Maine Lakes Art Residency is made possible through the generous support of the Dave Davis and Niki Janus Giving Fund and Michelle Davis. SUMMARY:Aquatic Plant Identification & Interactive Art Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Learn about invasive aquatic plants: what they are\, why they are bad news\, and how you can help prevent them from taking over the Belgrade Lakes! Then\, join New England artists Michelle Davis\, Carol Pino and Janel Twogood in a workshop focused on creating interactive art that reflects connection to nature\, and our work to prevent the spread of aquatic invasives. Participants will be encouraged to join the 7 Lakes Alliance Parade Float with their art during the 4th of July street parade. \nCurly-leaf pondweed found in North Pond (2025) \nIn This Workshop\n\nLearn about our Adopt-A-Shoreline program and how you can join the fight against invasive aquatic plants\nGet a better understanding of invasive aquatic plants in the Belgrade Lakes Watershed\nHands-on activity to identify invasive and native aquatic plants\nArt workshop to create aquatic plant inspired art including  plant wands and puppets of animals in the watershed.\nColorful fish puppets created with paper mache\n\nColorful fish puppets created with paper mache \nEvent Policies \n\nWe ask everyone attending 7 Lakes Alliance events to treat people\, plants\, and animals with respect.\n7 Lakes staff may be taking pictures during this event.
