DESCRIPTION: Join 7 Lakes Alliance in maintaining one of our newest trails\, the Lambert Trail on the Quill Hill Trail System. This trail is steep in places\, and work will focus on creating a more sustainable grade for the trail\, and installing erosion resistant rock steps where needed. \nDriving Directions to Trailhead: We will meet at the Quill Hill Trailhead on Drury Lane in Rome. From Route 225\, turn south down Drury Lane and the look for a blue “Quill Hill” sign on your left. \n		\n			View Trail Map		\n\n  \nTasks: \n\nPruning back the trees that have grown up along trail\nClearing the tread of the trail where necessary\, and raking drainages to promote water flow off the trail\nRebenching the trail where necessary to ensure a safe\, erosion resistant walking surface\nInstalling rock steps where the grade is steep\n\nWhat to bring: \n\nWork gloves\, sturdy work shoes\, long pants\nEye protection. DESCRIPTION:Reflect on the Summer Solstice by spending time being present\, surrounded by nature. Join Constance Woodworth from WorthIt Nature and Forest Therapy Connections on a slow\, mindful walk from the Quill Hill Trailhead in Rome. This walk is intended as a way to slow down\, bring attention to the senses\, and experience the environment with deeper connection. \n  \nTrail Description: This trail features moderate grades and is an excellent choice for hikers of all ages and abilities. Guided hikes with Constance are under 2 miles and are focused more on experience than distance. The group will stop frequently to practice mindfulness and to connect with nature through all senses. \n  \nTrailhead Directions: We will meet at the Quill Hill Trailhead on Drury Lane in Rome. DESCRIPTION:Two live owls are the highlights of this program\, which introduces participants to the owls native to Maine and New England. Using pictures and sounds\, participants will learn the identifying characteristics and calls of each owl.  Then\, using talons\, wings\, and skulls\, we explore the adaptations of these silent nocturnal hunters. This program ends with an intimate and detailed look at live owls\, bringing these creatures of the night into the light!
