Snowshoe to North Bay of Great Pond

Join a Maine Master Naturalist, Liz Koucky, as we snowshoe on a groomed snowmobile trail from Tri Pond Variety to North Bay of Great Pond. During this trek, we will see grasses, shrubs, and trees that are unique to this beautiful, open wetland ecosystem. Along the shoreline, we may see otter tracks, muskrat, and beaver lodges. The trail to North Bay from Tri Pond Variety is 1 mile, so the full trip will be 2 miles out and back.

Participants should wear warm clothes, layers are recommended, and sturdy winter boots. Please bring water, snowshoes, and poles if desired. 7 Lakes Alliance has 3 pairs of adult snowshoes with poles and 2 pairs of kids snowshoes with poles available to borrow. Please let us know ASAP if you need to borrow equipment so we can reserve it for you. *registration limit 12 attendees

Parking: please park at Tri Pond Variety located at 164 Village Road, Smithfield, ME 04978.
