DESCRIPTION:Bats comprise nearly one-quarter of the world’s approximately 4\,000 mammal species\, yet humans continue to fear and misunderstand them. Bats do so much to help us survive\, but now they need our help. Chewonki’s engaging presentation and interactive demonstration\, will introduce participants to the role bats play in ecosystems ranging from the Maine woods to the South American rainforests\, to help dispel common myths about these flying mammals. DESCRIPTION:Join 7 Lakes Alliance for a day of trail maintenance on our scenic Hoyt Island Preserve. \n \nParticipants will enjoy a boat ride across Great Pond on the 7 Lakes Education Boat\, then commence work on Hoyt Island\, clearing a walking path on the western side of the property. Tasks will include cutting brush\, clearing blowdown\, and smoothing trail surface. Please note that this workday involves a boat ride to and from the worksite\, so participants will be required to stay for the duration of the event. \nWhat to bring:\n\nClose toed shoes\nPants\nGloves\nFood and water to be outside for the day\nSun protection\nLoppers and a small hand saw (optional\, 7 Lakes has tools as well)\n\n7 Lakes Alliance will provide lifejackets for all attendees.
