Paddle the winding marsh of Lower Long Pond and get a look at the birds who call it home.

Guided by Maine Master Naturalist Julia Hanauer-Milne and 7 Lakes Alliance staff Sally Whittington, we will paddle upstream from the Wings Mills Dam to look for birds that live in and around this winding marsh ecosystem.

Things to bring

• Sun protection
• Paddle Craft (canoe, kayak, paddle board)
  • 7 Lakes Alliance has one canoe that can be borrowed for this event. Please email sally.whittington@7lakesalliance.org to inquire.
• Binoculars if you have them
• Water and snacks to be out on the water for a few hours
• Recommended to bring a change of clothes

Meeting location

Park in the large parking lot at the Wings Mills Dam, located off Wings Mills Road in Belgrade. Exact location: 44°25’59.5″N 69°54’04.7″W, can be put into your GPS to bring you to the parking lot.

Event Policies

• We ask everyone attending 7 Lakes Alliance events to treat people, plants, and animals with respect.
• 7 Lakes staff may be taking pictures during this event. If you would not like to be photographed, please let staff know during the event or contact staff ahead of time.
• Pets will not be allowed at this event.
• Safety is our primary concern. If you are acting in an unsafe way, 7 Lakes Alliance will ask you to leave the event.
