Join local poet Doug “Woody” Woodsum on 7 Lakes Alliance’s education boat for Poetry Afloat!

Join local poet Doug “Woody” Woodsum to learn about nature poetry and to write some of your own. Poetry and nature have gone hand in hand for centuries. Did you know that “imagery” in poetry involves all senses and not just sight? Use rhythm and rhyme, or don’t. Use metaphors, similes, hyperbole, personification, puns, or not. A two-line couplet or a three line haiku can earn you the title: Poet. This user friendly approach will help you out of your comfort zone, if needed. Samples from famous poets will be provided, and imitation is encouraged. 7 Lakes Alliance will provide everything you need, however you are welcome to bring your own supplies.

Doug “Woody” Woodsum has published poetry in Down East, The Maine Sunday Telegram, Yankee, and dozens of literary journals across the country. His book is titled The Lawns of Lobstermen.
