Join 7 Lakes Alliance and Maine Conservation Corps on Friday July 17th for a day of trail work on Sander’s Hill Trail in the Kennebec Highlands. We will we removing a series of old and rotten bog bridges and replacing them with more durable stepping stones. Maine Conservation Corps is a professional trail crew that has spent their summer working on the Sander’s Hill trail, so come enjoy the opportunity to work with the pros!
Things to bring
- Sun protection
- Plenty of food and water
- Close toed shoes and pants
- Gloves (these will be provided if you do not have any)
- Safety glasses (these will be provided if you do not have any)
Meeting location
11am at Sander’s Hill Trailhead in Rome. GPS Coordinates: 44.56623, -69.92168. Please note that parking is limited at the Sander’s Hill lot, so in the event that the lot fills up we will have participants park nearby and carpool over.
What to expect
- We will be moving rocks into position, fitting them together, and using crushed stone to ensure good fits
- Benching the trail on either side of the rock work to ensure a smooth transition
- Clearing brush in the trail corridor

- We ask everyone attending 7 Lakes Alliance events to treat people, plants, and animals with respect.
- 7 Lakes staff may be taking pictures during this event. If you would not like to be photographed, please let staff know during the event or contact staff ahead of time.
- Pets will not be allowed at this event.
- Safety is our primary concern. If you are acting in an unsafe way, 7 Lakes Alliance will ask you to leave the event.
