Help 7 Lakes Alliance celebrate Earth Day with a day of tree planting at our Dunn Road Conservation Area in Belgrade! This property, acquired by 7 Lakes in 2024, was extensively logged in the past and we are taking this opportunity to establish a resilient forest that will thrive in the future.
Rain date: Friday, April 24 from 3-5:30pm
What to Expect
Participants should expect a full workday of unloading trees, digging holes, and planting trees along with mulch, stakes, and tree tubes. Tree plantings will be divided into three zones: Wind throw mitigation, climate resilient native trees, and assisted migration plots. We welcome people of all experience levels to join us, but all participants must be able to walk short distances over uneven surfaces.
Participants should bring:
- Food and water
- Gloves
- Close-toed shoes
- Appropriate clothes to work outside
- If you have one, please bring a shovel, as we have a limited number to give out.
Parking
Park at the Belgrade Transfer Station in the parking area to the left of the gate. Transfer Station: 92 Dunn Rd, Belgrade, ME. Overflow parking will be directed to the Dunn Road Conservation Area just down the road. 7 Lakes Alliance staff will shuttle people from the Transfer Station to the work site.
